Shown at left, field technicians (Timothy McManus & Marc Caladie) are obtaining a Pitot Tube Traverse in a round exhaust duct. Inaccurate pressure readings can be obtained in a turbulent air stream; therefore, traverse test location is essential in determine accurate pressure readings. The traverse test location should be at least 8 duct diameters downstream and 2 duct diameters upstream from elbows, transitions, takeoffs, dampers or other obstructions, which cause turbulence.
